V2.80 Behavior Change and How Preferences Should Be Set
Due to a requested behavior change in V2.80, configurations that weren’t really correct, plus some bad data in files, that were working, don’t any more. So, if you’re seeing that MetaX isn’t parsing out the TV Showname, Season # and Episode number correctly, keep reading.
If you want MetaX to parse out the above information, make sure that you have the Preference->File->All Incoming Files Are, set to Prompt. If you tell MetaX that all incoming files are Movies, then it won’t try to figure out from the filename if it’s a TV Show. And yes, this is a behavior change from V2.79.
Next, if you download TV Shows from the internet, sometimes they already have an (incorrect) kind set in the file. You can use the Preference->File->Ignore Kind and Title in file (which is probably the correct thing for an untagged file anyway) so that this isn’t a problem.
If you have these two preferences set correctly, you shouldn’t have any issue getting MetaX to parse the TV Showname / Season / Episode out of the filename. Assuming of course you have the Preference->Parsing regular expression set to match how you name your files.
As always, if you have issues, just email me and I’ll try to help.

Thank you so much for this! Whenever I have any sort of problem with my MetaX I know you’re gonna take care of it so I don’t bother to report issues. Plus I know you’ll have a ton of other users hounding you about it anyway. Just wanted to let you know I love the program, and I truly appreciate everything you do to keep it running smoothly for us. Take care, and thanks again.
Is there a way for MetaX to save your queued items so you don’t have to locate them upon reload or restart? This would make time saving huge for myself and I am sure others.
There isn’t a way to do this, to do it correctly I would have to save any information that had been set for the items as well as the item itself.
